The return of Gulf Air ,after a 7 year absence. was greeted with the traditional fire hose reception and short ceremony at the airport. Flying three times a week from its Bahrain hub, Gulf Air, will depart Erbil on Sunday’s at 17.15, Tuesday at 12.45 pm and again on Thursday’s at 17.15. “Gulf Air is a most welcome returning guest. Its arrival here today, for the launch of a thrice weekly service, is a welcome vote of confidence in the stability of the region and the additional connectivity Gulf Air will offer the travelling public is a major benefit.

The region of Kurdistan does offer something different , its stability and security , built on the sacrifice of our brave Peshmerga and the support of our partners stands in contrast to other parts of this country.

Gulf Air’s arrival, joining a host of other international airlines, flying to 34 cities in 20 countries brings yet more connectivity which is so vital to or economic development.

So thank you Gulf Air, for the confidence you have invested in us. For our part, we at EIA, will work hard, alongside our private sector partners, ground handler, Dnata, and fuel supplier, Air BP , to offer a first class service to you and your passengers.

Since Gulf Air ceased flying in late 2012, the region has been through an interesting and challenging seven years, we hope and trust that the next seven years, in contrast to those previous, will be years of calm and steady progress as the KRG, alongside its federal and international allies, strives to maintain security , stability and deliver economic prosperity and growth for the benefit of all its citizens in this proudly diverse part of Iraq. “
